Today Marion and Dennie join forces to tell you what does discrimination feels like. Marion is a French Immigrant living in Norway. Dennie is a person on the autism spectrum without a paid job. Both look normal. Dennie looks like a “Middle age white man in Tech”. Marion doesn’t look like an immigrant if you just talk Business English. Although there is a lot of microaggressions they need to cope.

If you are an immigrant from and have another language-background lots of the words have another meaning, and there is no automatic underlying knowledge. Guess what people on the autism spectrum have in common with no automatic underlying knowledge of a situation. Here we are.

“Everyone that wants to work a (paid) job, can have a job!” is a sentence Dennie hears a lot. This is in the industry but not only in the industry. In family, social interactions, public television. To be honest if you are not working and caring for your own income instead of a fee from the government you are an evil being.  Although Dennie is way more productive and causes more change in the world/community than the “ideal scenario” of folding boxes in a factory for people with disabilities.
